These notes are transitional and unpolished. A more complete version similar in format to my senior project is scheduled for some time after 1-May-2009.

"In the summer of 2007, I discovered the May Day Mystery while idly searching Wikipedia for internet phenomena*. I became engrossed in the breadth and depth of the Mystery, and over the course of the past year it has been my goal to catalogue the clues and solve the Mystery. Alas, I have been unable to do the latter, but here in these two volumes is my work from the past year to uncover the secrets of these advertisements.
"Ads are placed in the Arizona Daily Wildcat every 1st of May and the first Wednesday in December, and various unscheduled ads appear from time to time. These ads have been diligently collected by former University of Arizona student Bryan Hance, who posts them on his website, www.maydaymystery.org. A large and diverse community has grown around the site as people from all over the world combine their knowledge and experience to shed light on the epic riddle."
Thus began the introduction to my two-volume senior project about the May Day Mystery. Though I did not accomplish my goal in the time alloted for my senior project, I will still continue to grapple with the Mystery as my spare time permits.
